Pascal Houle holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA) and Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA). He has been CEO of Groupe BMR and Executive Vice President of La Coop fédérée since 2015.
As leader of Groupe BMR, Pascal Houle manages a team of 1,700 employees, as well as a network of 300 dealers and their 6,300 employees across four Canadian provinces (Quebec, Ontario, New Brunswick and Nova Scotia). With sales totalling $1.3 billion, Groupe BMR is the largest Quebec-owned hardware chain, operating under the following banners: BMR, La Shop BMR, Agrizone, Potvin & Bouchard, Country Store and Unimat.
Founded in 1967, Groupe BMR, a subsidiary of La Coop fédérée, is recognized for its customer service and high-quality hardware products and building materials.
Pascal Houle has worked within La Coop fédérée’s network since 1998, first as Hardware Director at La Coop des Appalaches, then as Management Advisor at La Coop fédérée. In 2004, he joined La Coop des Bois-Francs, now called VIVACO Groupe coopératif, as Director of Hardware, Materials and Petroleum Products. In 2008, he was named General Manager of the cooperative.
Pascal Houle joined Groupe BMR as Vice-President–Retail in 2013, before being appointed Executive Vice-President. In 2015, he became Chief Executive Officer of Groupe BMR and Executive Vice-President of La Coop fédérée.
Appointed CEO of Groupe BMR in his early 40s, Pascal Houle is a member of the prestigious organization YPO (Young Presidents’ Organization), a network of young business leaders from across the world. Known for his positive leadership, Pascal has a high level of performance and is constantly concerned to satisfy the needs of his affiliated dealers and their customers. Pascal Houle has always relied on his versatility and boldness to ensure the businesses under his responsibility achieve their growth objectives, while maintaining excellent operational discipline. Under his leadership, VIVACO Groupe coopératif saw its profits triple and its sales increase by 88%—from $126 million to $238 million.
At Groupe BMR, Pascal Houle was rewarded for his efforts, as were his teams, when the company won the Improvement of Productivity Award at the 2017 Gala Les Mercuriades, organized by the Fédération des chambres de commerce du Québec. Groupe BMR also won the prestigious Company of the Year Award for the outstanding work the company has carried out to serve twice as many dealers following the acquisition of Groupe BMR by La Coop fédérée in 2015.
In order to giving back, which is very important to him, Pascal commits to various charitable causes, including the Children’s Wish Foundation and the Heart and Stroke Foundation.
