Entrepreneur, Producer and Television Host, Adopte inc.
Coming from a modest family and not having access to long studies (no general Secondary V degree), Anne Marcotte started her career as a secretary, working for $7 per hour, and made her mark by creating her own company after losing her job. AnneMarcotte’s conference, entitled “Daring to dare: from secretary to millionaire”, is intended as a entrepreneurial testimony illustrating that success is achieved through boldness, creativity, risk and hard work. Anne Marcotte was named one of the 25 brightest women in Québec in a special edition of Clin d’oeil magazine. She also received a Hermès award from Université Laval, the most prestigious award given by the Science and Administration Faculty.
In 1996, while only 5% of Québec’s population had Internet access, Anne Marcotte showed audacity and conviction when she launched Marcotte Multimédia inc., an Internet solutions company, which was among the most profitable ones in Québec. Her prestigious clients included several retailers (Métro, Familiprix, Canac, Mondou, etc.) and publications (Les Affaires, Elle Québec, Elle Canada, Décormag, The Hockey News, The Washington Post, etc.).
Ten years later, she sold her business to a North American communications leader (Transcontinental) to dedicate herself to a new career focused on promoting entrepreneurship as a lecturer, host and entrepreneurial television series producer (VoirGRAND.tv / Lac-Megantic.tv), columnist (Journal de Québec and Journal de Montréal) and blogger (Les Affaires). She is also, along with Nicolas Duvernois (the creator of the best vodka in the world, whom she discovered and who was featured in her television series VoirGRAND.tv), co-founder of the ADOPTE inc. entrepreneurial movement that reinvents the support offered to young emerging entrepreneurs.
